About Us
Evergreen Outdoor Education, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, was founded on the belief that everyone, regardless of age or ability, deserves the opportunity to experience the transformative power of the Maine Woods. We saw a critical need to break down barriers – physical, developmental, and financial – that prevent individuals with disabilities, special needs, and limited outdoor experience from enjoying the benefits of nature. We specialize in youth leadership development, adult outdoor leadership, and team-building, offering comprehensive training in:
- Safety and Preparedness: American Red Cross certifications (CPR, First Aid, Wilderness and Remote First Aid, Babysitting), and essential “Wilderness Ready” skills.
- Environmental Stewardship: Workshops on native Maine flora and fauna, emphasizing identification and conservation best practices.
- Leadership Development: Small group and youth leadership workshops, including Junior Maine Guide training, fostering essential skills for camps, schools, workplaces, and beyond.
- Customized Outdoor Experiences: Tailored programs designed to meet the unique needs of individuals on the autism spectrum, veterans and their families, and anyone seeking to enhance their outdoor abilities
